Loading the front end with all costs is usual but "independent valuation"and the people we pay to run the company should have been able to put a better case forward and extract value going forward like other companies have managed with including trailing commissions based on performance of pure volume. Thus regardless of margin or promotion , shifty deals, allowing patent use elsewhere , allowing production IP elsewhere etc there was another avenue to gain return.
I always look back- I learn what could have been and know for the next time a better way or trying to extract $ or what to avoid be it as simple as avoiding soft management and inexperienced shareholder register and exiting earlier
