The CRC program is real, has been for quite a while, fills a real need, creates lots of advances, read the lists. Projects are based on a perceived need, it's not a charity to expand markets, that might be a reward if you participate.
Even in Australia where the government has started lots of businesses, PMG, CSL, TAA etc etc I don't think we've ever actually outright bankrolled a private business after it has started. We've bought them out later on, like QANTAS after WWII, acquired all the shares, but never actually bankrolled so far as I know, with no research.
I agree with @ecoool2, basically a pointless discussion. I would repeat what ecool2 wrote;
It's up to MSB to use existing programmes to their own advantage, and they've got every right to lobby for more.
