in the last 12months Wilton Yao bought JAT at 10c when sp was trading 5.5c at the time.

That is why I have been loading up since under 5c and will keep doing so with every spare cash I have.

Happy reading for LT holders of JAT and remember always do your own DYOR and believe it. everything else is just noises

It is not uncommon to see companies perform well in the years after insiders buy shares. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So shareholders might well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Jatenergy Limited (ASX:JAT).

    Do Insider Transactions Matter?

Most investors know that it is quite permissible for company leaders, such as directors of the board, to buy and sell stock on the market. However, such insiders must disclose their trading activities, and not trade on inside information.

We would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing. But equally, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether. As Peter Lynch said, ‘insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise.’

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Jatenergy

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when MD & Director Wilton Yao bought AU$100k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.10 per share. So it’s clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being AU$0.055). It’s very possible they regret the purchase, but it’s more likely they are bullish about the company. To us, it’s very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares is very important. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

Happily, we note that in the last year insiders bought 3.2m shares for a total of AU$300k. While Jatenergy insiders bought shares last year, they didn’t sell. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by individuals) over the last 12 months, below. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

    Insider Ownership of Jatenergy

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Insiders own 29% of Jatenergy shares, worth about AU$13m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it’s enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Jatenergy Tell Us?

The fact that there have been no Jatenergy insider transactions recently certainly doesn’t bother us. But insiders have shown more of an appetite for the stock, over the last year. Insiders own shares in Jatenergy and we see no evidence to suggest they are worried about the future.
