S.Korea commits to 'challenging goal' of cutting emissions to 40% of 2018 levels by 2030
“South Korea aims to put 4.50 million electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles on its roads by 2025, the statement said, while adding more charging stations and infrastructure.”

South Korea is not well resourced for renewable energy therefore hydrogen must play a major role if they hope to reach the 2030 goal.
Good luck to them getting enough hydrogen from outside of the country to make that possible.
Personally, I don’t think they can.
There is a faint chance that they might get close if they can produce hydrogen (for mobility and industry) close to where it is consumed.
I can’t think of a better technology than the Hazer Process to make that possible.
South Korea is a major importer of natural gas, so there is one feedstock that requires no new infrastructure.
With a population of 51 million, they will also have an abundant supply of bio-methane, another feedstock.
Being a major steel producer, South Korea will already have more than enough iron ore catalyst.
So all the raw materials required for the Hazer Process are already there.
All that remains is for a mass rollout of Hazer Plants in say the next five years, (achievable if companies like BHP, Posco and others get behind it).
A swathe of 10,000 tonne/yr H2 Hazer plants won’t supply all of the hydrogen they need but it will go a long way to making 40% possible.
Without the need for hydrogen import infrastructure, Hazer should beat those bringing in hydrogen from offshore, hands down.
