That's the new reality with BP as Chairman, however he wouldn't have accepted the position of Chairman if he thought it was a poisoned chalice. And the concluding sentence,
"I look forward to our journey ahead as Chairman of a company with so much potential and look forward to sharing good, substantive news with you as it comes to hand."
seems rather prescient. It's not "if it comes to hand", but rather "as it comes to hand".
Of course everyone is entitled to invest as they please, yet I like to associate with serially successful people; that's why I'm not betting against a guy with the track record of BP.
Shareholders are going to have to read between the lines before they read it black on white.
