From a manager rewards points of view, an extra 10 cents in dividends will hardly change the TSR, whilst a BB could possibly move a share by a $1.
A lots of this is psychological, and has to do because we have become trained monkeys and have a expectation that when we hear the word BB’s.….the price of the share is more then likely to rise.
It not only invites other/new shareholders to partake but manipulates existing shareholders.
It probably sucks in the retail investors for the benefit of the professionals traders.
