Yes, I would think GM has taken a real good look at WBT and likes what it sees ... and there's nothing to stop all the other car manufacturers from also adopting WBT especially given its green credentials being superior to MRAM.
In addition to its competitive manufacturing cost and performance parameters ... I don't think the following in the announcement today can be overemphasised as a selling point for WBT's ReRAM! :
The study found ReRAM was more eco-friendly than MRAM on all measured parameters, with a 30% reduction in GHG (“Greenhouse gases”)emissions, 41% reduction in water use, and 53% reduction in use of minerals and metals.
Yes, GlobalFoundries has taped out the chip however I can imagine Samsung will be in serious discussions with WBT and chafing at the bit to utilise WBT in its mobile phones given Apple's adoption of TSMC's ReRAM in its phones.
What a future WBT and its shareholders have ahead them!
