A few points
As a new investor - I have a medium term timeframe to realising value - this means happy to hold for 2-3 years for a 30-50% gain . The aim/hope ofcourse is that comes sooner. The other point isthat I believe the mere suggestion that these assets will be divested will be enough to result in a rerating by the market. I have a slightly different way of viewing my investments and the targeted return . If for example I can realise 20% in 6 months , instead of waiting another 2 years for 10% more I often sell and redeploy capital to the company that I think has the 50% valuation gap . In this case the valuation gap is about 75% and I am happy with a return a lot lower - ever half would be great
As for my using their services - my philosophy is use as many professionals for idea generation . These guys use these investor forums and their stock tips to highlight their skills as stock pickers . Therefore the stocks highlighted are more high conviction picks than a simple broker tip. . Now this doesn’t mean I simply follow their advice , I listen to many of these boutique fund manager tips , and will reject 9 out of 10 for me . Before i Invest I will do my own research. So it’s not trickle down at all . There are over 2200 stocks on the ASX and SRS is one that wouldn’t come onto my radar unless someone brings it to my attention . The bigger the investment universe, the more opportunities to keep finding companies that are undervalued. Lastly , I like buying companies whose valuation gap comes from hard assets , cash property etc as the probability this asset value is real and not volatile is much greater
