So here is another thought for GNX'ers:
Run a hydrogen generation pilot from the current solar and run gas turbines for firming to increase the solar yield while the PHES is under construction. GNX has water and can store solar as hydrogen onsite. (lots of space and no residential opposition to risk)
This might be a good interim step to make the current assets sweat harder.(excuse the pun)
There are a number of options for hydrogen production pilots with funding from government being squarely aimed at that space currently.

(p.s. though I don't hold I am watching for changes to the fundamentals to get in as I love this idea in principal.)
