Capitalising development costs isn’t just accounting “make up” as you say. There are tax benefits to it, but the way you say it sounds like the whole accounting profession is just a financial statement make up artist.

You can literally find an article every single day saying the next recession is around the corner, since the news and the share market was a thing.

Yes there will be a recession at some point, i think on average it’s every 5 years or so. But nobody knows when and currently the economy in the US is doing very well probably a bit inflated due to Trumps short term incentives.
