"Very creditable numbers in a tough environment."
If a Martian - a financially literate one - landed on Earth for the first time, and someone showed that Martian the following chart, and told it that chart spanned a period of quite turbulent economic and political times, including:
Global Economic Recession in 2002/3
Major Middle East military conflict (2004/5),
Global Financial Crisis (2008/9),
Greek Debt Crisis (2011)
Brexit (2016)
Mining Boom and Bust (2016/7),
Construction Boom and Bust (2019),
Various ebbs and flows in consumer sentiment,
Various extremes in macroeconomic inputs such as steel prices and exchange rates,
and, moreover, that the chart represents an outworking that required absolutely zero recourse to shareholders for capital over that period, what, I wonder would the Martian's response would be?
I defy anyone to provide a chart of any other company that looks like that.
