The ROE dropped from 41% to 24% from 2009 to 2012. Since then it has been more or less stable around 20%. There is no straight line crash from 40 to 10 going on as you imply. A lot of things have changed since 2009 - TD rates for one. Whether this goes up or down a bit does not really concern me. It is enough to have some assets diversified in a non cash investment in a well run company in it's sector.
