I still remember PDN from of old, when they were buying everything they could get their hands on, and if it were not for the Chinese they would have gone bust. Paying a dividend when you have heaps of cash coming in, not only shows you are interested in all the shareholders but also imposes discipline on how the money is used. The dividend allocation also acts as a reserve for rainy days, since it can be cancelled at any time by the directors.
