Behold your answer from the horse's mouth. Nobody knew why - probably you can put it down to fear, uncertainty and nervousness of weak holders. Todays announcement indicates ABA is a rose amongst the thorns. The best part is the ability to organically fund their own expansion. This largely enables them to control their margin better than those who rely on world markets. I would hope that they can continue to keep growing organically and not have to rely on a great deal of external funding. The private bank side of their operations is where they will find the funding and ability to do this and it seems they have that realm fairly much to themselves in a world where personal service is fast becoming a thing of the past. It will remain a winner and a niche area for at least the end of this generation.
