Technically these aren’t freebies. They’ve bought them at 3.5c using a loan from the company. Terms of the loan are pretty good though….no interest and they only have to pay back the lesser of the market value and the original loan amount which means they’re not out of pocket if the price is less than 3.5c when they pay back the loan. Although they can’t sell the shares to pay back the loan so it’s still a sizeable commitment for them.
