I will try 1 more time to explain. They don't know or care or even want to guess where the SP will be in 15 months time. They were in the money. Pay nearly 600k. Sell for 900k if they happened to sell in the 40's. Make zero dollars by not converting now or make an easy 300k. You can't lose money selling at a profit. Maybe they haven't sold a single share. How can you be sure they have sold?
These are unlisted options. If the were listed options than I would agree with your theory.
