this article explains the situation re what happens to options in the event of a takeover offer. You only lose if the strike price for an option is higher that the TO offer. In the case of PTX the PTXOC options are already well and truly in the money with a strike price of only 0.625 which is why I think they are the best way to buy into PTX given the leverage they provide and the length of time before they need to be exercised.
