The ‘donation’ to MD Anderson was just the most cost effective way of supporting the EMD AML research. If we had paid for the research directly it would have cost 50% more as MD Anderson would have charged massive overheads to the investigators. Here in Australia we can negotiate down the overhead charges, but you can’t negotiate with MD Anderson - they tell you the terms and you either take it or leave it.
