It might be considered as defensive if it could hold its value but when I look at a 12 month chart, it's shed ~60% of its value. The company has sold its assets, appears to have a lot of debt and paying out more dividends than it earns.
It has to be financially sustainable and have a sound strategy before it can be regarded as defensive IMO.
