my understanding is exercise option now only have to pay tax on difference between exercise and market price, then sit on them for over a year to get 50% cgt discount when you sell in future if you exercise in 2030 and the price is alot higher you get a bigger tax bill, i dont believe you can claim cgt discount on option conversion
