How's this for some cute wording then: "The board is of the view that the Court application will not succeed and is disappointed that one shareholder is seeking to pursue an agenda that is not supported by the majority of the shareholding of the Company."

Note how they don't say that liquidation "is not supported by the majority of the shareholders of the Company."

Effectively the announcement is just saying "Leannedoesn't want ECL wound up so we ain't doing it".

Personally I am confident the votes cast at Monday's meeting will demonstrate that the vast, vast majority of shareholders other than Leanne think ECL should be liquidated. If I am right, surely that is pretty strong evidence that acting in the interests of shareholders as a whole - which is what the board is obliged by law to do - requires that they do wind it up.
