This is a poignant moment in Yowie US evolution.
1st Tier 1 trial winding up - this guy can only give Walmart more confidence that Yowie is not running by remote control from WA. I anticipate from his outstanding CV that he has done such trials before and will better understand the market "rules" in US. This has cost us time already with tardy preparation and unrealistic timelines suggested by management. Although sales will ultimately determine success this will be a bonus. It will still be several months before Walmart finish evaluations and comparisons to give the go ahead to Yowie.
The 2nd tier 1 trial is just starting and having him on the ground to ensure our staff are pushing hard to ensure compliance in all stores with displays and product position etc is vital to sales and hence success.
The product sells. The product is unique and kids seem to love it. I can see the philosophy of FB page coming online only when there is a proper contract made with Tier 1 distributor and there is an avenue to buy the product. Do not want frustrated consumers asking for product making Yowie appear "uninterested" in US, or plain incompetent. FB pages can sometimes backfire for unusual reasons.
This guy must love the product to punt like this leaving a secure background. He must be very confident about the US story. Great appointment and excellent timing.
