City Rail Link’s CEO Dr Sean Sweeney noted the joint venture provided a wealth of domestic and international experience, saying: “it shows the calibre of talent wanting to be part of delivering this important project that will transform the way people move and live in Auckland.”
This is reinforced by the story above that says rail is doing fine :
“Mr Sweeney said it was indicated that the rail business had been identified as one of the profitable parts of the business and there were people looking at a possible purchase.
“So they were very keen to take that forward, and to that end they were looking at getting further support from the banks so that the businesses would continue trading comfortably whilst all this was going on.”
It’s a huge shame that ‘calibre of talent ‘ (profitable talent!) is heading into someone else’s hands at rock bottom prices.
