They were well regarded at the time that they came in.
Obviously, with 20/20 hindsight it's easy to see that they weren't up to the job, whether it was that they were too late or too incompetent is academic; the ship sank with their hand on the tiller; there's no arguing that. But as a businessman with turnaround experience myself, I couldn't fault their fundamental strategy at the time.
They were well regarded at the time that they came in....
