The Childcare Industry and subsequently the Laws and Regulations that govern all areas of Childcare are consistent across the industry, this including independent daycare, OSHC and family daycare centres. I am struggling to see how a Chief Operating Officer of one of the largest OSHC providers would have ZERO experience. Fundamentally all childcare companies are striving to provide quality, compliant care that engages with the families and provides environments for the children to thrive. Sure, the age of the children attending may be different, but that doesn't change the focus. I would actually go as far as to argue that OSHC is far more complex of an industry with challenges in recruitment based on split shifts, less engagement from families, fee structures that do not support appropriate non-contact hours and challenges in compliance based on the operating hours. With the new CEO having experience in management control of 497 services in what is a more complex arm of childcare, how would there be the need for job training? potentially training in the systems used which I'm sure would only take a day so the set back is really not an issue. If anything, the experience in OSHC and overcoming said challenges is likely to bring refreshing views on improvements and growth opportunities.
