I don't know what the board has been doing but my strong hunch is that they never started a formal process to look for the kind of person your talking about. Its been about 9 months. The Board needed to put in a strong concerted effort to find the kind of person your talking about. One who would be a break from the past with specialist skills needed to develop the business and certainly not repeat the last 3 years of a falling SP where the CTO is unreasonably expected to perform both rolls.
