my guess is that he has been earmarked for the role for a while, which is why no other appointments were made. But hes been on a trial as such. My memory may be failing me, but i think he was employed around a year ago now.
While the news definitely is underwhelming compared to the sexy SP shattering appointment i was hoping for. It is still a great appointment and he has done really well since in his CTO role.
I jsut hope they now do a really good CTO role appointment.
