It's not about the woke brigade or the overly sensitive. It's a very good, very responsible appointment of a very skilled individual. There are a myriad of examples of where mining companies have failed to take environmental issues and social responsibilities seriously and shareholders have ultimately paid the price. Think oil disasters, indigenous art destruction etc. You should be pleased and proud as a shareholder that you are part of a company that appears to be taking its ESG responsibilities seriously. Companies that don't as we head towards more environmentally sustainable practices are doomed as a lot of today's and perhaps more importantly, tomorrow's shareholders, stakeholders and institutional investors are much more cogniscent of the environmental and social issues and will align themselves with like-minded companies. Well done PLS, onward and upward.
