I urge readers to have a long, hard look at the Clarksons website - they are the real deal.
They got the job done for us with CIMC Raffles and they’ll get the job done for us on the financing.
People following this story need to understand that management is attempting to build a multi-billion dollar company; and that takes time.
To achieve this, the company will require an investment grade gas supply (i.e. stable source of gas from a stable country) and an investment grade gas offtake (i.e. financially stable company with a high credit rating) to attract ship financing that will approximate the billion dollar mark.
And every piece of this jigsaw is dependent on the other. For example, why would a Petrobras, BP or Shell look to deal with little GEV if it didn’t believe in marine CNG and the company’s Optimum technology? However, even if it did believe in GEV and our technology, why would it deal with us if it thought we’d never get a ship built to transport their gas? Today’s announcement should allay any fears of the majors that GEV will get its ships on the water.
As I attempt to dot the dots, the timing of this announcement is prescient. No doubt Clarksons wouldn’t have agreed to undertake this appointment without having done DD on GEV, the technology, its chances of market acceptance, and the progress of the company’s commercial plan.
Why would Clarksons risk their reputation (as well as time and money) by associated themselves with a shoddy company with sh-tty technology that had no chance of getting up and running? It wouldn’t!
Today’s announcement may not be lengthy; however IMHO, it is substantial. Clarksons client base is comprised of global O&G majors that use them for ship broking, charter and finance. They don’t deal with part-timers on the ASX unless they believe it’s a real opportunity to make fee income.
So for anyone out there who doesn’t have the time or ability to do their own DD on GEV; now you don’t have to – Clarksons have done it for you.
