You can find scandals for every one of the big four audit firms (PwC, Deloitte, KPMG & EY).
Not suggesting any of them should be excused, just pointing out these firms are monlithic. They employ millions of people and have offices in most cities around the world. A few scandals is usually a very small subset of the overall organisation.
Also, an auditor is pretty inconsequential so far as an explorer goes - their job is to review and sign off on the financial statements each year and not much else.
