If you look at the photo in the announcement you can see they are inspecting the untouched ground at the site for the new tailings dam. Behind them you can see the wall of the old tailings dam.
Going from G1 to G2 means they are going from 2,500 tonnes to 40,000 tonnes, being processed, so the tailings dam will have to be that much bigger, maybe 16 times bigger than the old one.
