This project is so obviously ideal for a JV partnership. President Xi claimed yesterday that China would stop funding new coal power plants internationally. The chinese steelmaking industry has committed to peak carbon emissions in 2025. Razorback is due to start production in late 2024. As it stands, a huge chunk of Rio Tinto's operating mines are joint ventures with Chinese and Japanese steelmaking companies. Razorback will reach production, and the people selling their holdings in the 2c range are going to seriously regret doing so in a few years time. Likely even sooner.
