Industry news: The International Trade Commission (ITC (NSE:ITC)) has voted to allow the Trump administration to investigate if China has been exporting artificially cheap graphite into the U.S., which has effectively supressed the establishment of a domestic #graphite industry. The ITC voted 3-0 to grant a preliminary determination of injury to a coalition of American graphite producers who argued that China is exporting #anode material, a key input in electric vehicle #batteries, into the U.S. at artificially cheap prices. The Commerce Department now proceeds on #antidumping and #countervailing duty investigations, and if the case is successful, could ultimately lead to new #tariffs opposed on China by the U.S. The coalition of American Active Anode Material Producers (#AAAMP) is seeking the imposition of 920% tariffs on imports of natural and synthetic #graphite from #China.
