SO4 started off at Lake Way with the stated intention of building a small scale plant (from memory, max 50Ktpa with a MOP circuit).
They gamed the approvals system and built a full size failure.
KLL’s work was done in Canada and Germany. The photos of the German plant showed a plant in a warehouse, so larger than a lab desk top study.
What is interesting is more than a few have commented on the new RWD process and how it is untested. The reality is it is lab tested in the same way the Canadians and/or Germans performed a range of tests for peers. Because the peer tests were based on the Utah process everyone has assumed the processing assessed was tried, tested and suitable for full scale development in WA.
The big question is why the Canadian/German lab/pilot tests of a process similar to the full scale plant in Utah have failed to scale up in WA.
