The shares aren't worthless- but they will most likely be worth- less. The administrators were probably brought in because the financiers were losing faith in the board's promises/ followed by requests for more cash. I'm personally assuming parts of 'other discoveries' will be sold off to prop up Mt carlton- but there's cases where administrators put a functional business back into the hands of owners- repaired and whole. It's just a matter of the numbers of the debt / and the ability to repay. Banks usually get paid first. Everyone else second.
