I don't think it's fair to judge a new CEO at this level before he demontrates his performance. But having said that, it seems a weak hire and as much as people don't like it, it suggests that the talent pool was not overly amazing either.
but keep in mind for a CEO this is still a real gamble, and can make or break a career. If he is willing to prove himself I'm sure he can perform.
