Dissappointing. Strategically, Wine Depot there was a clearly defined customer problem, good value proposition, sector ripe for innovation, seemingly good leader, Dean did have a good track record and history of building good brands in the wine storage and marketplace space. There were growth KPI's that flatlined around the Kaddy merger. The problem to me seem to be with this. Perhaps the Kaddy guys are the problem (con artists)? Or the decision to moving from Wine to Beer and diluting the value proposition and getting Dean off course from his expertise/networks/strengths... I'm devastated with this result as still seems to me that there is a needs gap. Directly connecting consumers / venues with the quality product and cutting out the middle man (the big 2 retailers/distributors).
