FollowIt is progressing reliably step by step with Altech's long-term investment in the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park. Not far from this, an international working group met last week in Hoyerswerda (Saxony) to implement the new Cerenergy® Battery project of the Altech Group in Schwarze Pumpe industrial parks. Among other things, a feasibility study as well as the approval and construction planning for the production site were discussed. In addition to Altech, representatives of the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS), the Leadec Group, which will be responsible for the construction of the factory as general contractor, as well as three companies that are planning their own location at the industrial park in connection with the Altech investment.

The two-day conference took place in an exclusive location - the Zuse Computer Museum. Konrad Zuse, who is considered the "inventor" of the computer par excellence, went to Hoyerswerdaer Gymnasium in the 1920s. The museum's collection essentially reflects the revolutionary development of information technology in the 20th century.
With the Altech conference, the latest technology met the history of technology here - certainly a rare constellation.

Background: The Altech Group, together with Fraunhofer IKTS, the leading battery institute in Germany, concluded a joint venture agreement a few weeks ago. The aim of Altech Batteries GmbH, founded for this purpose, is to produce and distribute a sodium alumina solid state (SSA) under the product name Cerenergy®.

The plant should initially have an annual production capacity of 100 MWh, which corresponds to a first production line. From 2025, 2 GWh are planned.

In 2024, about 140 employees are needed for this, from 2027 probably 600. For the first production line, a pilot plant, approx. EUR 100 million invested, totalling about EUR 700 million. EUR out. IKTS developed the technology over eight years. Now she is ready for commercialisation. Cerenergy® batteries have clear advantages over lithium-ion batteries - they are environmentally friendly, safe and have an extremely long service life. In addition, they are temperature resistant and their robust design offers a wide range of applications.
