The idea that the aircraft will be promptly in service is based on the punt Alliance took in buying the Fokker fleet of Austrian Airlines. As the aircraft arrived, they found work and have kept them nicely busy since.
Of course, there is not a never ending supply of new work that would mean you keep buying more and more aircraft. However, right now is a very opportune moment. The Australian domestic market has been turned on its head by covid and the demise of Virgin Australia. The new Virgin is running with quite a few less aircraft and has standardised on 737 aircraft. In order for them to provide a regional service to give their network some reach, they are best off subcontracting Alliance to provide an Embraer or Fokker with its lower capacity. It is common in the USA and has been done here with Cobham running Qantas flights.
