I guess we can only speculate, here is my glass half full view: APT is now a global company, with several key US stakeholders, so its board needs to reflect it. The founders will concentrate on execution and operation, offloading their board duties somewhat. If the founders will focus on execution and operation, David current roles becomes essentially redundant. Plus they could not find a new role for David as they want a person with more global experience, ie facebook. I am sure there will be a golden handshake for David, who has done an exceptional job.
