The key, is that LYC, are still locked into yesterday’s prices with Japan driving them into the ground. Amanda really needs to step up.
ARU are capitalizing on the supply chain deficit and the absolute need for ex-China supply. Due to the supply deficit, there will notably be a premium in pricing received for the NdPR. The UK have just mandated demand for EV’s now that will follow further to other countries, and this adds more pressure. This is a ticking time bomb… supply deficit overload!!!
Darryl talked, x4 in pricing today in the quarterly meeting as a reasonable number. That means $200/kg magnet per $53,000 car, and his suggestion, was that why wouldn’t you pay that price for supply certainty from tier one company.
Both Darryl and Peter, both discussed that ARU will be setting a new benchmark, and that’s understandable. As we’ll have no competition coming online.
Many in the media are slow on the uptake on this one, but that’s the real story.
