Archer Materials jumps on guidedmissile project

ASX-listed semiconductor company Archer Materials this morningannounced plans to collaborate with the Australian Missile Corporation to buildAustralia’s Sovereign Guided Weapons Enterprise.

That’s right, Australia is getting a guided missile system as partof the $270 billion defence spending package announced in late March.

Australian Missile Corporation is owned by NIOA, which is run byBob Katter’s millionaire son-in-law, Robert Nioa.

Bundaberg-based NIOA is the largest supplier of guns and weaponsto the defence force.

Archer Material’s shares were up by as much as 8.8 per cent to80 cents in early trade.

The guided missile program could get up to $40 billion offunding over 20 years and create 2,000 jobs around the country. That’s $1 millionper year per job.

NIOA was set up in regional Queensland in the early 1970s andstarted as a small gun shop but has expanded substantially under Robert’sleadership.

It has promised to invest $130 million in local gun andexplosives manufacturing in conjunction with Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions (yes,the German army’s main weapons manufacturer in World War II), includingmanufacturing missiles at Benalla for the US’ F-35 Joint Strike Fighters.

That contract was awarded in 2018 by former Defence MinisterChristopher Pyne, who joined NIOA’s advisory board in December 2020, along withformer Victorian Senator David Feeney and retired Major General Gus McLachlan,and Victoria Cross winner Mark Donaldson.

Last week NOIA signed an agreement with another listed companyElectro Optic System (EOS) to jointly pursue opportunities to sell RemoteWeapons Stations to Defence.

The EOS board is also stacked with former politicians and armypersonnel, including former ACT Senator Kate Lundy, former Chief of Army PeterLeahy, and former Chief of Air Force, Geoff Brown.





In other news it does look like the patent process is progressing, through the interview stage and seems its debated on certain wording.. Might see result sooner than we think.
