Thankfully no time soon. Manipulation buying occurs at market tops to trick holders into keeping their stock, as instos, smart money and traders sell out their positions. Think of it as a rounding top, double top or head and shoulders pattern - the price of the share usually closes much higher then the VWAP and hides the large movements.
Once the SM have sold their positions, they have no interest in keeping the price elevated, so it falls on no demand.
The opposite of that, which we're seeing here, is where the price will try and be moved down towards the close, to create the impression of a weak market or a weak stock. This stops mum and dad investors from buying in and pushing the price up too much, allowing larger traders to get their fill first.
Last thing large investors want is for the price to move up without them along for the ride.
