For those new to this mineral field (a resource has been proved) Fig 2 on page 5 may be a bit confusing. What we are seeing is the remains of a Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide deposit which was laid down in the deep ocean by a sulphide 'smoker' (one of the few ore genesis systems still at work today) Those horizontal deep ocean sediments have been pushed up and over the continental crust of Australia and concertinaed like a pack of cards.
The Lachlan Fold Belt so produced is the location of many rich ore deposits along the eastern seaboard.
