Sand mining leaves minimal scar or footprint, and I really like the clever method of putting back the vegetation and avoiding the water table. It's like rolling back the carpet to get the sand, and then rolling the carpet back in place. No deep mining like cold/copper/nickel, and no massive holes on the scale of the WA super-pit.
The projects will have economic benefits on a national, regional and local level,and put Australia on the Global map as a top class producer of silica.
