Also they were in the process of transitioning the version of the product from 3G to Spacetalk Adventurer (which is the 4G version), so they were running down the stocks of the older 3G version. It actually makes complete business sense to do this. The last thing you want is lots of older version stock around when a new version is available. If you do, you then need to heavily discount the old version. This company has never wasted money and has always been frugal. This is another proof point.

The more I think about it, I think the disgruntled ex-employee just wasn't suited to a small company. If you look at his background, it is all big older companies with heaps of resources. Smaller companies require people to be able to be more nimble and hands-on. Actually need to do stuff yourself, rather than have heaps of people that you can delegate to.

This is one of the difficult of hiring people from bigger companies into smaller companies. Hopefully Mark doesn't make that mistake again, or at least checks better for culture match.
