Margret you do seem to be having trouble understanding the TGA reasons.
The idea of Artimist is one quick spray and off to a proper treatment centre to get a combination therapy that has two modes of action to ensure a complete kill of the parasite.
But what if you see improvement with the first spray. And the costs in time and money of getting to a treatment centre are very high (for poor people).
The temptation will be simply to keep up the sprays for a couple of days (overuse). And not ever seek the combination treatment. Hence resistance builds up.
Education programs such as suggested by SUD would be a waste of time … they have already been proven not to work (low adherence to treatment guidelines).
The whole world wants to get rid of oral monotherapies. SUD are trying to introduce another one.
How about the next product SUD focuses on is one that the world actually wants?
