Makes a lot of sense to me.
The asset was just sitting there. Now they get some cash, plus they retain some interest via the Global scrip, while Global do the work to progress the resource.
And it allows ARU to concentrate on their core business, the rare earths etc.
The gold was a distraction, doing nothing, earning nothing, and unlikely to be explored further by ARU.
