Okay, so maybe somebody knew something at the time, but divesting out of Burkina Faso in a timely fashion might justify the massive loss incurred in the transaction. This just released by West African Resources (I've boxed the relevant content):
In any case Kouri was a terrible resource: patchy and veiny, the inferred component was very high risk, and the low overall open-pit ore grade was going to stretch the economics of a mining operation. It's good to be shot of this thing.
