    At the end of last year / beginning of this year there was a buy back offer. The company was offering 5c per share for a proportion of each holders shares. They did this as a return of capital for the money they got from selling the consulting business.

    The idea is that the company then cancels the shares that it owns making each share outstanding own more of the company rather than the company owning itself. The notice just says whoops, we forgot, doing now.

    The market capitalisation is based on outstanding shares time the price. This site, brokers and the ASX report market capitalisation using the total number of shares including the ones owned by the company.

    If you have valued the company at say $35M you might have been hesitate to buy given it the reported capitalisation is $38M. Now that you find out the total capitalisation is only $27.97M you might think the company is cheap and get buying
